Writing
Newsletter
I write about culture, consumerism, and climate crisis—mainly in my newsletter Nuance Required.
Nuance is required in order to have honest, graceful conversations about socio-cultural influences, how and why we interact with built systems the way we do, and what we can do to collectively build a better future on this beautiful, threatened planet.
Why? Bringing a nuanced approach to complex topics surrounding consumerism, convenience, American culture, and how they all intersect with the environment and human relationships allows us to realistically talk about the issues, the barriers, and the things that are going wrong. But that’s also an opportunity to seek out more relevant solutions in a way that actually honors and addresses the full scope of what we are facing. In my writing, you’ll find diverse sourcing, honest reflection, and hope with actionable takeaways. Recent topics include how ChatGPT is the SHEIN of tech, the false promises of disposability, and the links between ICE violence and climate deregulation.
Freelance Work
I have experience writing for blogs, start-ups, newsletters, indie magazines, marketing materials, and beyond. I specialize in education-based, editorial writing.
Some of my favorite freelance pieces include:
“The Shortcomings of Convenience” for Chickpea Magazine, Issue 38: Ease
“The Resale Puzzle,” a 9-part series mapping the secondhand fashion industry for Beni
“Microplastics and How to Avoid Them” for Sustainably Kind Living
If you have need for thoughtful, well-researched writing surrounding climate, culture, or sustainable fashion, I’m currently open to taking on more writing work. Reach out here.
Personal Writing
Occasionally, I have reflections that don’t fit neatly into my newsletter or published work. Those pieces are housed here.
